PHLASH & FRIENDS-DEEP ELECTRONIC SOUND

Phil Asher (Restless Soul/Focus) is back and this time he has some
rather talented his friends in tow (Om'Mas, Alma Horton, Rich Medina,
Dego from 4 Hero and more)!! A fantastic album of soul/house/future
business from this now veteran UK producer..

It may have all come about by accident but the fact remains that Phil
Asher is one of London's undisputed underground House music producers
and is nothing short of a legend. Far from being underrated this all
round nice guy is considered amongst his peers around the world as
one the UK's best and proficient club DJ turned producers. Anything
musically he's put his hand to has seen him receive nothing but
accolades of applause. Having amassed a catalogue of hundreds of his
own productions, along with clocking up a huge discography of remix
and co productions, Phil's life has never been anything but
progressive since 1991, following his first public stint as a DJ at
House night Delirium.

From then his name has become synonymous with established club nights
such as the long running Inspiration Information which he co-hosts
with Patrick Forge, to the Soul Heaven parties, the grand CO OP
shindigs that were held at Plastic People, regular spots at the
Southport Weekenders, to Italy's Angels of Love plus other gigs
throughout Europe, the US, Japan, Dubai, Australia and New Zealand
all reinforcing his popularity and demand around the globe.

What makes Phil such an attraction behind the decks as well as in the
studio is anyone's guess but one thing's for certain his distinct
ability to move forward in producing quality dance music that has an
edgier sound to it without cutting down on value or compromising each
of the projects he's working on clearly comes from a God-given gift
within him nurtured in part from the influence of his father at a
very young age.

Though Phil doesn't see so much of what he does as hard arduous
labour but more of a uniting love for an amalgamation of sounds. His
attitude is just the same when he mixes up the vibe in his DJ sets at
his Inspiration Information residency. Phil Asher has learnt to take
on the glorious elements of all that is past musically and
magnificently combine it with advance technology in musical
production without having ever lost his soul, roots or vigour in
being the man we know as Phlash.

Fast forwarding to 2008, Phil's latest studio album Phlash & Friends
"Deep Electronic Sound" on Italy's Archive records features a stellar
line up of collaborators including Karizma, Dego (4 Hero), Zed Bias,
Mark de Clive Lowe, Orin Walters (BITA), Zansika, Alma Horton and
others. This brand new adventure that is an eclectic musical
assortment has an all encompassing bpm range that sits between 118
and 126. This prospective collection of dance gems undoubtedly
promises to be right up there in stand out future classic albums.

"Call the album 'jungle for the dance masses'. So Far comes from noted junglist Alex Reece, but newcomers to breakbeats will have no trouble tapping their feet or keeping in rhythm to any of the songs here. Reece's massive Pulp Fiction single appears here as "Pulp Friction," and though the bassline is majestic, the beats are what matter in jungle; Reece just doesn't have what it takes to put him into Goldie/Photek territory. Goldie's Timeless is probably the closest touchstone to So Far, since both albums lean very close to house music (female diva vocals, skittery piano and synth lines, etc.). Ο Μάιος ανήκει στους Last Drive! Για τρίτη χρονιά στη σειρά, το κορυφαίο rock’n’roll συγκρότημα που ανέδειξε ποτέ η εγχώρια σκηνή θα εμφανιστεί τον συγκεκριμένο μήνα – την Παρασκευή 15 και το Σάββατο 16 - στο Gagarin 205 Live Music Space! Μόνο που αυτή τη φορά τα πράγματα είναι πολύ διαφορετικά από ότι στις δύο προηγούμενες. Κι αυτό διότι οι δύο συγκεκριμένες εμφανίσεις συμπίπτουν χρονικά με την κυκλοφορία του ολοκαίνουργιου album τους, “Heavy Liquid”, δεκαπέντε ολόκληρα χρόνια μετά το “Subliminal”!

To album θα βγει στην αγορά κάτω από την ετικέτα της Happy Crasher Records - την οποία δημιούργησε ή ίδια η μπάντα με σκοπό να διαχειριστεί την παραγωγή του όλου εγχειρήματος - και θα παρουσιαστεί στα δύο live της Αθήνας, αλλά και σε εκείνο της Θεσσαλονίκης (Μύλος, 9/5), ενώ ταυτόχρονα θα διατίθεται, για πρώτη φορά, σε όποιον θέλει να το αποκτήσει σε CD τις συγκεκριμένες βραδιές από τον πάγκο του merchandise των δύο clubs! Από τον Σεπτέμβριο θα κυκλοφορήσει και σε βινύλιο (σε περιορισμένα αριθμημένα αντίτυπα).

Το υλικό του γράφτηκε μετά την επανασύνδεσή τους, το Μάιο του 2007, και περιλαμβάνει 11 συνθέσεις του group και μία διασκευή. Μερικοί τίτλοι από τα τραγούδια: “A Glass of Broken Dreams”, “Hang the Bone”, “Magdalene”, “Goldfish”, “Pantherman”, “Hole in the Wall”.

Την ομάδα που έχει αναλάβει την επιμέλεια της παραγωγής, απαρτίζουν οι ίδιοι οι Drive, ο παλιός γνώριμος της μπάντας και συμπαραγωγός του “Subliminal” Jimmy Spliff και ο ηχολήπτης στις ζωντανές εμφανίσεις τους Άκης Πασχαλάκης.

Το artwork του δίσκου έχει αναλάβει ο κομίστας Βασίλης Λώλος, γνωστός από τις δουλειές του αλλά και τις διακρίσεις του σε Ελλάδα και ΗΠΑ (“Last Call”, “The Pirates of Coney Island” κ.α.).

Οι βραδιές θα ανοίξουν με την εμφάνιση special guests τα ονόματα των οποίων θα ανακοινωθούν σύντομα.

The Detroit Experiment-Think Twice Remixes

Juno releases four new remixes of this classic track from 2002. First
up Henrik Schwartz steps up. Never one to shy away from altering a
track drastically, Schwarz attacks the track by turning it into a
monstrous Detroit anthem with live percussion, strong keys,
electro-funk bassline, handclaps and of course those big dramatic
strings. Meanwhile Marc E takes the much more restrained and
respectful approach of the original, making the percussion a bit
brighter and more electronic yet keeping the structure very much
intact. Includes the fantastic original version.
